Final Synopsis Idea

Working title - "Ghost of a students future"

Mark is a student slacker that refuses to do work where possible due to his heightened cockiness. He convinces his head of year that he has been doing work and makes excuses for all the subjects he seems to be slacking in. in a dream he meets his future self who shows him what his future will be like if he starts to work hard now, or carries on skating by. Events like Results day, university possibilities and even a girlfriend. This reality check spurs him on to do well, giving him a change of heart on how he should approach work.

Audience and purpose - This would be aimed at students from the GCSE to A-level range because of the general theme of the short film idea, with the purpose of motivating that age group to focus on work if they want to get anywhere in life.

This synopsis evolved from our second initial idea for our short film and has a lot of improvements since our initial planning stage. we still believe practicality is our main selling point for this idea, including the idea of having the same actor for both roles of the Ghost and of mark himself, due to the split-screen technology provided for us on the iMovie software on the iMacs that we would be using for the editing stage of the project. we also feel that this synopsis provides more creativity and finesse to our idea and despite being inspired by Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", is still quite an original idea, which will separate our idea from the rest because it is fresh. One concern is that the split screen for the scene with the ghost and mark may be tricky to accomplish, but we can still pull it off with the use of shot reverse shots, if all else fails.
